EXOTICZ Birdie Hotel provides attentive, individualized boarding for companion birds while their families are away.
Every bird has different needs, routines, personalities, and comfort levels, so we take the time to understand each guest rather than treating boarding as a one-size-fits-all experience.
Availability
Birdie Hotel is not available year-round.
We only accept new boarding guests when we have confirmed availability and the proper space and resources to care for them.
Because our priority is providing quality care rather than taking in as many birds as possible, availability may be limited.
Please contact us before making travel arrangements to confirm that we are accepting new boarding guests for your requested dates.

Bird 101
Your bird isn't a lost cause.
Sometimes you bring home a bird and suddenly think:
“Okay... now what?”
Maybe your bird is biting you. Maybe they're terrified of being handled. Maybe they scream constantly, refuse to step up, don't trust you, or have behaviors that are making you question whether you're capable of keeping them.
Bird 101 is designed to help.
Bird 101 is available for both new bird owners who want to get started on the right foot and experienced owners who are struggling with a particular behavior or relationship with their bird.
We can also help teach birds new behaviors, tricks, skills, and cooperative behaviors through ethical, positive training methods.
How Bird 101 Works
1. Consultation
We'll start with an online or in-person consultation where we'll discuss your bird, their history, your concerns, and what you'd like to accomplish.
2. Individual Assessment
Every bird is different.
We'll look at the specific behavior you're dealing with and consider your bird's personality, history, environment, motivation, and current relationship with you.
3. Personalized Training Plan
We'll determine which positive, ethical, reward-based training methods are appropriate for your individual bird and situation.
There is no single training method that works perfectly for every bird.
4. Practice Together
We'll work through the training with you and your bird and teach you how to continue the process at home.
5. Homework
If you sign up for weekly or monthly sessions, you'll receive training exercises and homework to work on between appointments.
The goal isn't for your bird to only behave when they're with us.
You are your bird's primary trainer.
We can teach you the techniques, help troubleshoot problems, and guide you through the process — but the most important training happens between sessions with the person your bird spends the most time with: you.

We want to help you understand your bird.
Whether you're bringing home your first bird and thinking “What do I do now?”, struggling with a behaviour that has left you discouraged, or simply wanting to teach your bird something new, we're here to help you build a stronger relationship together.

My Story
I understand what it's like to feel completely overwhelmed by a bird.
About two years ago, I jumped into keeping a large bird and brought home my first macaw.
He was extremely aggressive. Even something as simple as bringing him food could result in him attacking me.
I became discouraged and started questioning whether I could continue keeping him.
He wasn't an easy bird.
But I didn't give up on him.
Instead, I began working with him through positive reinforcement, patience, consistency, and ethical training methods. I learned to understand his behaviour rather than simply punishing the behaviour I didn't like.
Over time, everything changed.
Today, that same bird is incredibly sweet, trusting, and one of the birds I am most proud of.
That experience taught me something I'll never forget:
Don't give up on your bird.
A difficult bird doesn't necessarily mean a bad bird.
Sometimes they need someone willing to slow down, understand them, and show them a different way to communicate.
That's what I want Bird 101 to help you do.
